Each county or city government has a solar power subsidy program, but the total subsidy budget and maximum subsidy amount for each case vary. However, compared to the amount of subsidy available, we recommend that you pay more attention to whether the county or city’s regulations have special requirements for installing solar power systems to avoid missing out on subsidy opportunities. The following are the main differences between the county and city subsidy programs:
1. Subsidy Units: Most county and city governments have introduced relevant subsidy measures for solar power generation. The competent authorities are generally the Department of Industrial Development, the Department of Urban Development, the Department of Public Works, etc. In addition to referring to the information below, you can also inquire with the competent authorities listed.
2. Subsidy Targets: Primarily non-publicly owned legal buildings within each county or city. However, the requirements for applicants vary slightly between counties and cities. Please refer to the following link for information. Yilan County specifically stipulates that subsidies are only available for solar power generation systems installed by foundations.
3. Subsidy amount: The subsidy amount varies depending on the scale of power generation; however, most counties and cities have a maximum subsidy cap.
4. Subsidy Duration: Each county and city program is primarily limited to one year, with applications being announced at the beginning of the year and ending on the deadline. If the budget is exceeded, the program will be terminated early.
5. Subsidy program requirements for solar power generation systems: Most require that “solar photovoltaic power generation equipment must be new products”; some counties and cities require that the equipment used must be solar photovoltaic module products from manufacturers that have been selected as qualified in the “Quality Solar Photovoltaic Product Selection Program” of the Bureau of Energy of the Ministry of Economic Affairs; there are also requirements that the batteries used in energy storage solar photovoltaic systems must be deep-cycle types and have minimum cycle life standards.
