Solar PV System Subsidy

Each city government has a solar PV system subsidy plan, but the total subsidy budget and the maximum subsidy amount for each case are different; however, compared to the amount of subsidies available, we recommend that you pay more attention to the measures of your city. Whether there are special requirements for the solar energy system installed, so as not to miss the opportunity of subsidy. The following are the main differences between the various city subsidy plans project:

  1. Subsidy units: Most of city governments have introduced related subsidy measures for solar power generation. The competent authorities are generally the Department of Economic Development, the Urban Development Bureau, and the Public Works Departments.   2. Subsidy objects: mainly non-public legal buildings in various counties and cities, but each county and city has slightly different requirements for applicants. Please refer to the following link information. In addition, Yilan County specifically stipulate that only solar Solar PV system set up by legal foundation could be subsidized.
  3. Subsidy amount: Depending on the scale of solar PV system, the subsidy amount varies; but most counties and cities have a maximum subsidy.
  4. Subsidy period: The plans of the counties and cities are mainly limited to one year, and the announcement at the beginning of the year is open until the deadline; if the budget is used, the plan will be terminated ahead of schedule.
  5. The requirements of the subsidy program for solar PV systems: most of them are “solar PV power generation equipment limited to new products”; some counties and cities require that the equipment used must be selected by the Ministry of Economic Affairs Bureau of Energy ” selects the solar PV module products of qualified manufacturers; there are also batteries used in energy storage solar PV systems that should be of deep circulatory type and have a minimum standard for cycle life.

Information on subsidies for solar PV systems by ministries and municipalities (Last update date: 2018.12.25)

Taipei City

  1. Project name: In 2018, this bureau will accept the application period and the amount of funds for subsidizing the installation of Solar PV power generation equipment.
  2. Application period: from March 1, 2017 to October 31, 2017.
  3. Total subsidy budget: NT$3.5 million. When the cumulative amount of the application for subsidy reaches the total budget, the Bureau may announce that it will stop accepting subsidy applications.
  4. Subsidy objects: Solar PV power generation equipment applicants who install solar PV power generation equipment in non-public legal buildings within the jurisdiction of the city and obtain the approval filing documents issued by the Energy Bureau of the Ministry of Economic Affairs in the current year or the previous year.

New Taipei City

  1. Project name: New Taipei City Government’s 2018 annual implementation plan to promote the installation of Solar PV power generation systems.
  2. Application period: until October 31, 2017

Taoyuan City

  1. Project name 107 annual implementation plan to promote the installation of Solar PV power generation system.
  2. Application period: until August 31, 2017
  3. Total subsidy budget: The original budget is 25 million yuan, and an additional 15 million yuan will be added later; applications for solar power generation subsidies in 107 have been completed.
  4. Main responsible unit: Taoyuan City Government Economic Development Bureau

Taichung City

  1. Project name: Taichung City Government 107 annual subsidy to install Solar PV power generation system implementation plan.
  2. Application period: until October 31, 2017.

Chiayi City

  1. Project name: Chiayi City Government 106-107 Annual Subsidy Installation of Solar PV System Implementation Project.
  2. Application period: until October 31, 2017.
  3. Total subsidy budget: NT$8 million; as of June 8, 107, the total subsidy amount was 7.8 million yuan.

Tainan City

  1. roject name: Tainan City Government Economic Development Bureau’s 2007 subsidy implementation plan for the installation of solar PV systems.
  2. Application period: from February 01, 107 to July 9, 107.
  3. Total subsidy budget: NT 30 million.

Kaohsiung City

  1. Project name: Kaohsiung City Government Works Bureau’s 2007 Subsidy Building Implementation Plan for Installing Solar PV Power Generation Systems.
  2. Application period: from February 1, 107 to October 15, 107 (if you use a chisel for the budget, it can be closed in advance).
  3. Total subsidy budget: NT$15 million.
  4. Subsidy objects: legal private buildings; single-family buildings or continuous buildings. The subsidy program is slightly different. For detailed subsidy amount, please contact the competent authority.

Pingtung City

  1. Project name: Pingtung County Government’s 107 annual subsidy building implementation plan for installing solar power systems.
  2. Application period: January 1, 2017 to December 31, 2017.
  3. Subsidy amount: NT$5,000 per peak, and the part less than one peak will be subsidized at a rate. The subsidy amount is rounded up to the whole number and discarded below the decimal point. The maximum subsidy amount is NT$300,000.

Yilan County(1)

  1. Project name: 107 years to subsidize the installation of solar PV system (Sunshine Green Benefit/Light Spot Community Project) and low-carbon demonstration community project.
  2. Application period: January 16, 2017 to May 31, 2017.
  3. Subsidy objects: social welfare institutions and social welfare charity foundations under the jurisdiction of Yilan County (public and private); or community development associations that have filed a case in accordance with the law and integrated social welfare functions.

Yilan County(2)

  1. Project name: Yilan County subsidizes non-governmental organizations to implement low-carbon demonstration community projects in 107 years.
  2. Application period: January 16, 2017 to October 10, 2017.
  3. Taitung County

  2. Application period: from the announcement date to November 31, 2017. 3. Subsidy objects: Install solar PV systems in legal private buildings within the jurisdiction of the county, and obtain the approval of the Ministry of Economic Affairs Bureau of Energy for filing or equipment between July 9, 105 (after the Nibert typhoon) and November 30, 107 Registered (according to the date of issuance) the owner of the solar PV system.
